CHLOREP 2.6.1

The CHLOREP (Chlorine Emergency Plan), established in 1972, functions as The Chlorine Institute’s mutual aid program aimed at providing prompt and effective responses to chlorine emergencies across the United States and Canada. It facilitates rapid access to accurate information and industry expertise for transportation providers, end-users, first responders, hazmat teams, and other relevant parties. Backed by chlorine producers, package handlers, and specially trained emergency response contractors, CHLOREP offers expert guidance via telephone within minutes of a reported incident. When necessary, it can also swiftly deploy emergency equipment and personnel to respond to chlorine emergencies nationwide.

The network comprises over 80 response teams representing 22 member companies of The Chlorine Institute, along with 11 emergency response contractors that adhere to rigorous performance standards. The development of the CHLOREP app aims to enhance operational efficiency by providing responders with a user-friendly interface that consolidates essential information such as the CHLOREP Handbook, team contact details, and other critical network resources. Access to this app is restricted to selected individuals, including CI members, rail partners, and federal agencies.
